Due to the absence of Auckland clubs the regatta did not go ahead.

Instead, Whangarei Rowing Club crews enjoyed a good morning's rowing followed by a bbq to kick off the season.

Nicky Coles was in attendance and went out on the water with many of the club's rowers; much to their delight.
